Ouzts Too is a hidden little gem in Florida’s pan handle. If you happen to be visiting St Marks National Wildlife Refuge, I highly suggest you stop off for some good eats afterwards.
Ouzts is especially known for their fresh-shucked oysters and mullet. Both are fabulous options, and you should totally splurge. The seafood dishes can be a tad pricey, but there are also plenty of mildly-priced items to choose from as well.
We went at lunch time and snagged an outdoor spot. The place was hardly busy. But most who were there were locals, so we knew we were at a great spot. There’s nothing impressive about the place at first glance. It’s your typical dive bar.
However, the friendly service was welcoming. Many of the Yelp reviews about the place mentioned the friendly staff, and that was definitely true from the moment we stepped inside. But if you’re in a hurry, I’m not sure I would suggest stopping in. Maybe they were having an off day, but we waited about 45 minutes for our appetizer (wings) and waited another 30-45 minutes for our actual meal. And like I said, the place was hardly busy. The food definitely made up for the wait, though.
The fresh oysters with butter, garlic and parmesan were a huge hit for me. So if you’re a seafood lover, or aren’t afraid to try new things, Ouzts Too can definitely satisfy a hungry belly.
If you’re not into seafood, I would highly recommend their wings. We ordered teriyaki and BBQ flavors, and both were absolutely phenomenal. Possibly the best-tasting wings we’ve had, each with unique homemade sauces.
So although a bit rundown, and slower-than-normal service, I would still recommend getting yourself to Ouzts Too. If you’re looking for a unique local spot, this is the place to be.
