Let’s talk about how we find places to stay while traveling. Early on, friends of our who were just embarking on their full-time RV lifestyle tipped us off to this amazing little app. And for a one-time investment of $9.99, I can tell you, it was well worth it.
Allstays makes a variety of apps, but we rely heavily on the Camp and RV one in particular. In just this one little app, we can find nearly any campground in the country. Whether it’s privately owned or a national or state park campground, they’ve got the details.
Setup has never been more simple. Just click on “Filter” at the top, and the app gives you a giant selection of things you didn’t even know you needed to know how to find (see right figure below). Filters include anything from private, national, state, and county campground, to low clearance roads, to finding dump and LP refill stations, Cabelas and Cracker Barrels.
Simply select your filters based on your needs, and zoom in to your location or type your destination in the search box at the top left (see left figure below). When you wanna check out a particular campground, just click on it, then select the (!) button to read more.
The middle figure above shows what the typical info page looks like for any particular campground. It will give you an idea on how expensive or inexpensive it is, and also give you an idea of what amenities they offer there. Wanna know more? Just click on reviews to read what people are saying or visit their website to see their rates and availability. Want to just call? They’ve already got their number there for you on speed dial.
I would say that we find 90% of our lodging through this app. And even so, I would say it’s 100% worth the money. And what’s even more beautiful, is they also offer a website where you can snag all the same information, but for free (just slightly less convenient for those who prefer on-the-go research).
